Käänne is growing and moving to the Dance House Helsinki
Käänne, the festival of politics, art and science, will take place next on 30–31 January 2027 at the Dance House in Ruoholahti, Helsinki. The free festival, open to everyone, is moving from Korjaamo to a larger venue after the 2026 festival attracted around 6,000 visitors and reached the venue’s capacity.
“Korjaamo, which has hosted Käänne until now, has become too small for the festival, which is of course a positive problem for us. At the Dance House, we can welcome more than twice as many Käänne-goers,” says Mia Haglund, Chair of KÄÄNNE ry.
Käänne’s ambition is not simply to become bigger, but to become more meaningful and have a greater impact. The festival brings together local communities, national public debate and international perspectives, creating a meeting place for people working in politics, science, art, civil society and culture.
“We want as many people as possible to be able to take part in Käänne. A larger venue means more programme, more encounters and more opportunities to build the festival together. The Dance House offers Käänne a larger and more accessible setting than before,” says Eero Vassinen, Board Member of KÄÄNNE ry.
What is Käänne?
Käänne is a free, non-partisan and open festival of politics, science and art. The festival was first held in January 2025 at Korjaamo Culture Factory.
Käänne seeks alternatives to a lack of faith in the future and to the narrowing of our collective social imagination. The festival brings people together across and beyond the boundaries of party politics.
At Käänne, participants are not merely an audience, but also co-creators of the programme, the atmosphere and the shared conversation.
The open call for programme proposals will take place during summer 2026. The first speakers and programme items will be announced in autumn.
